Anybody know where the name ‘Roe Greave’ comes from.
Greave = a piece of armour for the shin
Greaves = Fibrous refuse of tallow.
Roe = Small deer Fish eggs
A Roe stone = A type of limestone rock
Can’t see any connection but would be interesting to find out
